I am very thankful that my kids enjoy books. My daughter especially loves the story of Baby Jesus, even when it’s not the Christmas season. I thought I would collect some of our favorite books about the Nativity that would also make a perfect stocking stuffers or a 25 days of Christmas tradition if you do that.
Of course the best way to read the Nativity story is from the Bible itself. We always do this on Christmas eve or Christmas morning before opening up some gifts. But I also like to have Nativity themed books around that my kids can enjoy along with reading from the Bible.
My Bible Friends (5 Volume Set) – Book 1 specifically has the story of Baby Jesus. This one along with the story of Baby Moses which is before it are the two most requested stories my daughter has me read to her. I love the realistic pictures in this set as well, nothing cartoon looking.
The Story of Jesus – What I like about this particular book is that it covers Jesus’ entire life, including His death, resurrection and how we are all waiting for Him to come back and take us to Heaven.
Truth in the Tinsel (An Advent Experience for Little Hands) – This one is more of hands-on activities following the story of the Nativity than an actual book. But I thought it fit in well with this topic. We will be starting the activities on Dec. 1st and learning about each aspect of the Birth of Jesus from all the characters and also readings from the Bible. There are also printable ornaments you can purchase and color along with each day’s lesson.
Here are a few other books that we don’t have yet, but look like they would be good to check out as well:
- The Story of Jesus
- The Christmas Baby
- Baby Jesus Is Born
- Christmas in the Manger
- The Jesus Storybook Bible
