Montessori Inspired Toys for Babies Ages 0-6 months

October 5, 2015 by Heather Greutman Leave a Comment

With the birth of our second baby recently, I have been on the hunt for more family friendly Montessori inspired toys for his age. When my daughter was born I had not looked into Montessori yet so we did not have many wooden toys or other Montessori inspired type items.

I have always been drawn to these types of toys with my background as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, but when I finally learned about Montessori it just all clicked together. So I may have a slight obsession now with looking for Montessori inspired baby toys. Making up for lost time, right?

Here are some of my favorites that I have recently added to our collection.

One of the first things I purchased was this Wooden Baby Development and Discovery set. I have a little corner of our living room set up for Ben’s area with a mirror on the wall, a soft play mat on the floor and also a basket next to it to hold all the wooden toy items.

I also recently got this Haba Clutching Toy, I love all the bright rainbow colors on this one, instead of just the plain wood color.
Ben’s favorite item right now at almost 3 months old is this mini bell rattle. I have been using it when he is in tummy time to help him with eye tracking as well as getting him to move his head from side to side. I also like that the bell is not obnoxiously loud, but it gets his attention.

Our Montessori Object Permanence Box with Tray and Ball is currently not out, but I am looking forward to getting this one out for him once he gets a little bit older and is grabbing hold of items.

We also got him a natural wooden ring rattle. My daughter actually likes playing with this one too.
